My name is Steve Mahone, and I have been writing professionally since 2012 when I was hired by Hewlett-Packard as a part of their proposal team. Freshly graduated with a Master’s Degree in English: Writing and Rhetoric from Virginia Commonwealth University, I was eager to put words together and actually get paid to do so. I never looked back.
I have worked for multiple Fortune 500 companies, small businesses, and start-ups. I have written novels, screenplays, teleplays, kickoff decks, white papers, training guidelines, and more proposals than I can remember. I led teams with disciplines ranging from marketing professionals, to technical subject matter experts, to Chief Executives. I have worked with groups nationally and internationally, both in an office and remotely, and across all time zones.
Through my experience, I have found one universal truth—writing, and the ability to write, will never go away. Everything requires copy, and therefore everything needs someone who can write it. The tools used, the preferred diction, and the writing styles all evolve over time—or even client-to-client—but the universal truth is constant. This is where I come in.
